Clean curb lines, clean storm drains

Moore Clean provides street sweeping built around San Antonio’s requirements: commercial corridors along Loop 410 and US-281 that accumulate heavy litter through the week, HOA streets in Stone Oak and The Dominion with high appearance standards, and municipal and DOT-adjacent routes where consistent sweeping supports inspection compliance. Our crews run scheduled routes and on-call sweeps across the region, from the Loop 1604 and IH-35 corridors to community streets in Schertz, Cibolo, Selma and New Braunfels, with most work happening overnight or early morning.

Sweeping the street is also sweeping the watershed. Every pound of sediment, leaf litter, and trash lifted off the curb line is a pound that never reaches a storm inlet, which is why regular power sweeping shows up on stormwater best-management-practice lists from the EPA down to the San Antonio River Authority. Clean streets read as a well-run property; clean inlets read as a well-managed one.

That workload increases every year. U.S. Census Bureau population estimates consistently list the San Antonio area with the fastest-growing regions in the United States, and the added traffic and construction leave more debris on the curb line.

The San Antonio fleet is built around regenerative-air sweeper trucks such as the Schwarze A7 Tornado, A4 Storm, and TYMCO 435. These street sweepers vacuum and filter what they collect, so caliche dust and fine sediment leave the street and do not resettle behind the truck. Schwarze M6 Avalanche mechanical broom sweepers are used where material is heavier. Our guide on how street sweepers work explains why the technology matters. Centers that want frontage and lot handled together add parking lot sweeping to the same visit.

Why it matters

How does street sweeping support stormwater compliance in San Antonio and the South Texas region?

San Antonio sits at the edge of the Hill Country, where short, intense storms send water across streets faster than in most Texas cities. Whatever is in the gutter when that happens, including live oak leaves, sediment, and litter, goes into the inlet, so the useful time to remove it is before the storm. That is why street sweeping appears on the EPA national menu of stormwater BMPs and in the TxDOT stormwater program for roadway maintenance, and why material collected here stays out of the San Antonio River basin.

Commercial property managers, HOA boards, and municipalities also need to show that the work was done. Our routes are GPS-logged and every sweep is documented, which matters most for properties over the Edwards Aquifer recharge zone, where owners are often asked to show how water quality measures are maintained. The San Antonio River Authority promotes this kind of source control throughout the basin.

From Downtown and the River Walk perimeter to the retail frontage of La Cantera and The Rim, and out through Alamo Heights, Leon Valley, Converse, Schertz, and New Braunfels. If it has a curb, we sweep it. Overnight windows keep sweepers clear of daytime traffic on Loop 410 and US-281 frontage roads, and post-storm response gets debris off the pavement before it washes into inlets.

Questions

San Antonio street sweeping FAQ

Do you sweep HOA and residential community streets?

Yes. HOA street sweeping is one of our most requested services in San Antonio, especially in communities like Stone Oak and The Dominion where boards hold a high standard for common areas. We schedule monthly or quarterly routes, sweep the full curb line including cul-de-sacs, and provide service reports the board can file.

When do sweeping routes run?

Mostly overnight and early morning. Sweeping at 3 AM means empty curb lines, no parked cars on commercial frontage, and clean pavement before business hours, and it keeps our trucks out of Loop 410 and US-281 daytime traffic. Daytime sweeps are available where site conditions call for them.

What equipment do you run for street sweeping?

Regenerative-air sweepers, primarily the Schwarze A7 Tornado and TYMCO 435. Instead of mechanical brooms that push much of the fine material around, regenerative-air machines blast air into the pavement and vacuum the debris back, capturing fine sediment and dust. That’s the fraction that matters most for stormwater, and it’s the difference you can see on the curb line.

Can you respond after storms or special events?

Yes. San Antonio’s flash storms push gravel, branches, and silt onto commercial streets, and we run post-storm sweeps to clear debris before it reaches inlets or becomes a road hazard. For events, we sweep the route or venue perimeter before doors open and again after teardown.
